Reviews
From early on in her career Mary has received many write-ups. As early as May 22, 1980 John Dalton in The Guardian described her as “that delicious watercolourist”, as “boldly taking in the whole vista with its flow of field, hill and sky, changing pattern and atmosphere” (9th September, 1981)
Then on 26th November 1981: “she has great talent and a complete mastery of landscape from the delicate detail, flowers and plants in the foreground through sweeping vistas to high horizons of the Devon/Cornwall border."

Her show before last was headlined in the Western Morning News, Tuesday March 22 2005 as “Painting light and life in a passing paradise”. Simon Parker described Mary as “one of Cornwall’s most important and best loved artists. Her diligent recording of a changing landscape is profound, accomplished and beautiful”. Then, again on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007, her most recent exhibition (Cornwall's Coast and Moors) was described as: "Unashamedly beautiful, each painting provokes a feeling of balance, continuity, and timelessness. And such is her popularity that the majority of the 105 works in her latest exhibition - her largest to date - are likely to sell on the first day."
